The charm of the Bernau mountain valley was already discovered long ago.

Hans Thoma, the famous German painter, born in Bernau in the Black Forest in 1839 wrote about his home village:

”Here I forget all my worries and the peacefulness of nature encloses my soul”.

The popular mountain village has kept it’s special character up to the present day, many regular guests and even locals appreciate this.
