Bernau in the Black Forest is one of the few towns in Germany that has two weather stations.
The 1,294 metre high “Krunkelbachütte” weather station, at the foot of the 1,415 metre high Herzogenhorn is one of the highest based weather stations in Baden-Württemberg.
At the “Bernau in the Black Forest” weather station at Hexenbühl in the Taubenmoos nature reserve, at 1,000 metres above sea level, the coldest temperatures in Baden-Württemberg are often recorded. However, these temperatures do not apply for the whole mountain area.
The weather readings from these two stations belong to the most used in German radio and television programmes.
