Zauberwald-Pfad (magic trail)
The Zauberwald-Pfad (magic trail) is located in the Taubenmoos nature reserve area in the district of Oberlehen, within the Bernau region. It has a length of 2.5 kilometres. This varied and impressive nature adventure trail, which was developed between 2007 and 2009, runs along the Rönisch stream on paths and leveled forest tracks, although the stream must be crossed using narrow wooden bridges in some places. From the trail you have views of the bordering moor areas, which developed from marshes and pools as a result of the sediment and detrital of the glacier from the last Ice Age. Nowadays many rare animal and plant species live here.
The trail runs through almost magical forests with luscious moss coverings, small springs and brooks, so you can well imagine that mischievous fairies and goblins live here. The “Schweinewiibli”, a Bernau legendary figure, who is interested in the contents of bags and baskets from the visitors, is said to live here ...
