The chapel in Oberlehen
This chapel is located directly next to the birth place of the great, German painter Hans Thoma and close to the Resenhof Heimatmuseum.
The 1947-built and from Dr. Ludwig Baur sponsored chapel was consecrated in 1948 to honour the Virgin Mary, the vessel of all mercy. Inside the house of prayer, actually the largest of the Bernau chapels, the four coloured glsss windows catch our attention. They were produced in the Sperlich glass factory in Freiburg. The window on the left depicts the birth of Christ, in the right window we see Mary under the cross, submissively kneeling in front of the crucified. The windows show Mary’s journey to Christ. The modern Stations of the Cross is carved in lime wood.
The key to view the chapel can be collected in the "Gerbe", the residence of the sponsor Dr. Ludwig Baur, from Family Inge Regele, at Hans-Thoma-Weg 4.
