Ring sun-dial

Not in the resort park, but in the nearby mountain cemetery lies a ring sun-dial made from granite. Ring sun-dials are rare and in Germany there are only a few examples.

The fleeting shadow of a bar across a sun-dial clock face has always been a symbol for the passing-by of our days, our lives. So the motive of a sun-dial as graphic decoration for the 1989 completed cemetery extension made sense.

The imaginative Bernau sculptor Edelbert Wasmer was successful in enriching the Bernau Highlands with a timeless, symbolic and artistic piece, made out of Black Forest granite.
