Resenhof Heimatmuseum
When you step over the threshold into the low living room, it is as if you take a step back into a long-forgotten time. A tour through the 1789-built High Black Forest single-roofed barn, which is still in original condition, offers lots to discover.
The Resenhof impressively conveys to the visitors how life and work in the Bernau mountain valley was back then. How are shingles made? What are “Gelten”, “Zuber” and “Spanschachteln”?
Answers to these questions are available in Resenhof. This timberwork farm building in the Bernau im Schwarzwald community, which is more than 200 years old, is home to the “Holzschnefler” (wood craftsmen) trade since 1977. A unique museum in the whole Black Forest.
Every year on the 3rd weekend in August the Resenhof becomes a true working museum. Holzschnefler demostrate old handicraft in the original workshops in Resenhof.
