“Albweg” - romantic walking route along the Bernau Alp.
For the second most striking Bernau walking route we go from Hof along the Alp route - which always follows the “Bernau Alp“ stream down in the valley (counterpart to the Panorama route). Again we follow the yellow diamond and the signs for “Albweg”, past the “Bernau Hof” guesthouse and then along the “Gartenweg” in the direction of Dorf. The Bernau Alp accompanies us past the Goldbach farms until the Spitzenberg car park, where it collects the Schwemmbach, the Goldbach, the Nettenbach from the left and the Kaltenbach and the Stempfelbach (coming from the Blößling mountain) from the right along the way and as a result becomes a respectable valley stream.
Once the road has been crossed by the Spitzenberg car park, the path goes further along the idylic alp, past the “Sägle” estate and through the gorge-like valley narrowing between Riggenbach and Innerlehen. This area and the again gorge-like opening of the alp after the Tannengrund children’s play area are the most impressive sections along the Albweg. The route then leads us further out of the valley, passed the so-called “Schliefe“ (“grinder”), an estate directly located on the alp where in early times a grinding mill powered by water from the alp was built.
In Weierle we reach the L146 state road, which we follow uphill to the left, past several notable businesses, and then after crossing the Bernau-St. Blasien state road we near our destination, the “Ankenbühl” hiking car park.
